Throughout a babies life, they will go through several sleep transitions. 3-2 naps, 2-1 naps, 1-0 naps, as well as crib to toddler bed, and toddler bed to big kid bed.
The most important thing we need to remember about these transitions is that they need to be done when the CHILD is ready, and by ready I don’t mean “at the right age”.
To decide if your child is ready for a transition they need to be showing clear signs for AT LEAST 1 WEEK. These signs include playing through nap times, sleeping too long for one of the naps, and asking for a big kid bed.
“NON-Reasons” to transition your child are: baby has reached a certain age, baby cries at nap times, baby climbs out of the crib, or you need the crib for a the arrival of a new baby.
If you think your child is ready for a sleep transition, or for more information contact me so we can make this a smooth transition for baby and parents too!
